2022 Information -In previous years we have received a fabulous response to the Carnival and we often have a procession around containing 800 participants which is amazing and thats a great show for the Town! In 2019 we had the largest in the Carnivals history with 890 Children and adults!

Please read the following carefully so you are aware of the Procession Arrangements for Carnival Day as there are some changes we have made this year, this will help us run the Carnival smoothly.

The start location for the procession will be Bracken Leas School, Pavillons Way, Brackley NN13 6LF.

We will be able to accept vehicles and floats from 9.45am onwards for the procession. The procession will leave promptly at 11am and we aim for all of the procession to have reached Magdalen Collage School St Johns Site by 12noon approximately.

FULL ROAD CLOSURE From 9.15am to 11.15am there will be a full road closure in place affecting Pavillons Way from Soudan Avenue to Magdalen Meadows to allow the procession to muster. Houses fronting Pavillons Way may have restricted access during the closure. However we will try to accommodate access where possible during this time but this will be restricted. Once the procession has started at 11am and has passed these roads they will reopen. The laybys outside Bracken Leas School will be closed to parking from 9:15am – 11.15am approx. Access to this closed off area will only be for the Bus and for vehicles taking part in the procession.

A DIVERSION will be in place via MARTIAL DAIRE BOULEVARD during this time. approx 9:15 – 12noon The closure has been applied for the keep the public taking part in the event safe. The road closures will be enforced by NORTHANTS 4×4, we ask that you respectfully follow their instruction to ensure the safety of the procession participants.

Every effort will be made to keep the disruption to businesses and resident on the route to a minimum.

ROLLING ROAD CLOSURE As usual there will be a rolling road closure once the procession starts from Pavillons Way, Halse Road, High Street and the Market Place to the Carnival Site at Magdalen Collage School, St Johns, Brackley. the procession will leave Bracken Leas at 11am and all the procession should have arrived at Magdalen Collage School by 12 noon

We trust that you will understand the necessity for the closures and thank you in advance for your patience

DROP OFF POINT – CARS We will be operating a one-way system with a drop off point between the roundabout outside the Chequard Flag and Souden avenue at the front of Bracken Leas, there is NO PARKING available, once you have dropped off please turn around as instructed by the marshalls and then exit back down Pavillons Way.

We encourage all procession members to WALK to Bracken Leas or share lifts so that we can reduce the amount of traffic flow on Saturday and keep disturbance to residents pf Pavillons Way to a minimum.

Please remember that ALL adults and children over 16 will require a wristband in order to take part in the procession, you will not be allowed into the gate at the carnival site if you do not have a wristband. Wristbands will be on sale from a Marshall at Bracken Leas School at a cost of £5.00, children age 11-16 are £2

When the procession reaches the carnival site please follow the Marshalls instructions and follow the marching band down onto the middle field and into the main arena where the presentations will take place. Once those have finished the band will strike up and lead the procession back up to the top field into the procession area where you will be able to disperse.

Please do not breakaway inside the gate as this will cause a blockage and prevent the rest of the procession entering. Vehicles in the procession will be parked on the top field, they will not follow the procession down into the main arena. As you process through the gate please hold up your hand and display your wristband. If you have not got a wristband on please use the pedestrian gate and buy your wristband there.

Adults will not be allowed in to ‘collect’ children unless they have a wristband. If you are not coming into the Carnival then please make arrangements with your organisations leader to select an appropriate meeting point outside the Carnival Site where you can collect your child, please make sure these arrangements are made in advance.

Please make sure that Children and adults have adequate water, sun hats and protection from the sun for the walk.

Please remember that throwing sweets to spectators is not permitted.

The Procession, sponsored by Mercedes Petronus F1 will be judge at The Old Fire Station outside Brackly Town Park on the Highstreet so make lots of noise when you get there.

Looking forward to seeing you all with you bright and cheerful costumes! Please cheer and clap for the procession they always put on a great show and put a lot of effort into their floats
