The Procession is the highlight of the Brackley Community Carnival and this year the starting point is BRACKEN LEAS SCHOOL, Pavillons Way, Brackley, Northamptonshire NN13 6LF, we will be walking up Pavillions Way, turn right onto Halse Road, right on to Brackley High Street then finishing in the Main Arena, Magdalen Collage School, St Johns site.
CHANGE OF ARRANGEMENTS at MCS!!! 2020
Once the Procession has reached St Johns Site, the Procession will follow the marching band down onto the middle field and into the Main Arena. Any vehicles taking part within the procession will peal off at the top field and be asked to park in the ‘procession parking area’ in the top field as usual. The procession will wait in the Main Arena untill the whole of the procession has assembled and then the Opening Ceremony will take place. Presentation of prizes including The Cover Competition, Shop Window Competition and the Procession Prizes will be announced. After this the band will strike up and will lead the Procession back upto the Top Field in the ‘Procession Area’ there they will be free to dispurse and enjoy the rest of the days events.
Whilst the procession is assembling in the morning there will be a road closure in place along Pavilions Way from the Chequered Flag roundabout up the hill to the junction of Martial Daire Boulevard so that the procession can assemble safely. During this time there will be a diversion in place which will use the Pavilions Way> Martial Daire Boulevard> Pavilions Way route. Once the procession starts 11am there will be a rolling road closure in place and once the end of the procession has left Bracken Leas School the road will open up once safe to do so.
The road closures will be managed by NORTHANTS 4X4 and residents in the area will be advised in advance. We will limit the time the road is closed to a minimum and accommodate where possible access to residents. However safety of the children and residents is paramount and vehicles will not be allowed to areas which are occupied by pedestrians.
Local bus services have been advised in advance and please check with the various operators as to any changes which may be made. We thank you in advance for your patience.
Every year we are so impressed by the standard of entry in the procession and the effort that people go to join in the fun. From the vibrancy of the costumes, the noise of the bands and children singing and playing musical instruments the atmosphere is wonderful. The members of the public who take part in the procession go to such a huge effort and they are rewarded with the smiling faces of the children and spectators and the cheers from the crowd.
Even the local farmers, the fire services, classic car enthusiast and even Croughton Airbase have taken part in the past to make the event a real spectacle.
The procession is judged by a panel along the route. The Judges scores are then compiled and the winner is announced at the Prize Giving Ceremony on Carnival Day. This year we are delighted to announce that Mercedes are sponsoring the procession, there will be three prizes, 1st prize £150 2nd prize £75 3rd prize £50, good luck to everyone taking part.
